Extreme weather events and unusual seasons already have significant impacts on the profitability of aquaculture. We cannot be sure exactly how climate will change nor how demand for farmed fish and water will change. For this reason the aquaculture development strategies that are launched today by farmers, companies or governments need to be as robust as possible, that is, work in a wide range of plausible future conditions.
